Clarinet Tour in Panama

This coming January, I will host a tour within Panama for Ana Catalina Ramirez, the clarinetist whom I wrote the Fantasia and Cabangueando for. Catalina is the former principal clarinet for the Mississippi Symphony, a founding member of the YouTube Symphony, and a distinguished soloist and chamber player. She will be joined by young Panamanian clarinetist Matthew Jansen, who at the very short age of 17 took top honors at the International Clarinet Competition of Central America.

The tour will comprise of free recitals and workshops in several communities in the Panamanian Countryside, with support from the Embassy of Costa Rica, Taca Airlines, Playa Tortuga Resort, Hertz, Altos del María, the University of Panama (Santiago Branch), the Nata de los Caballeros Foundation, and the Universidad Autónoma de Chiriquí.

This project has also received the endorsement of YOA - Orchestra of the Americas, as part of the Organization's efforts to transform lives through music. Catalina is also a member of YOA, and is currently a doctoral candidate at Temple University.
